In October ’09 final year students from Saxion’s School of Governance and Law participated in a two-day conference at the Maastricht University. This conference aimed at bringing together international researches in various disciplines, to examine the links between corruption and human rights.

The students participated in workshops dealing with corruption. Corruption is said to be one of the greatest social evils of our time and it has been on the international agenda since the 2003 United Nations Convention against Corruption.

However, from the human rights perspective this subject has not been studied extensively. In addition to these workshops, students had interviews with international participants to discover whether different steering mechanisms of society solve important societal issues like, for example, corruption, climate change and biodiversity.
