Introduction
Saxion offers an intensive and comprehensive Foundation Summer Course for students who wish to successfully complete their degree programmes at Saxion university. It helps students adapt to the Dutch academic environment and to life in the Netherlands before starting their main course of study. It guarantees students a Saxion Talent Scholarship (STS) towards their subsequent bachelor programme.
Course content
The course aims to prepare students to take a successful part in Saxion degree programmes. It enables students to improve academic English language skills and acquire the necessary knowledge, competence, and interpersonal skills they will need to go on to a degree course.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to demonstrate:
- that they can adapt to life and the study environment in the Netherlands
- that they are aware of how to study at a higher education institution in the Netherlands
- that they have acquired competence in academic English
- that they have developed the learner autonomy
- that they are able to study in groups of students from different culture

Entry requirements
- Students have to meet the requirements for Dutch higher education and be in possession of a diploma of secondary education or high school diploma.
- IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
- Prospective students are required to apply for their future four-year course, final-year or masters programme at the same time they seek entry to the Foundation Summer Course. The reason for this is to ascertain if they have the proper previous education for their intended future study.
