Introduction

The Master in Management programme is for managers who wish to pursue studies at a higher level by adding a specialisation. Students build on their knowledge from the work environment and previous learning, whilst developing a critical theoretical perspective which will inform their own developing Management practice. The programme aims to advance an individual’s knowledge of Management and Business Administration and develop strategic thinking. This master is an overall joined programme with the MBA.

Saxion University offers this MA programme in co-operation with the University of Greenwich: successful students obtain an internationally recognized British degree, Master of Arts. The course is practical in nature, being case-based and relying on students relating their own experience to the concepts, theory and models.

Course content

The course consists 10 modules, which will be offered in a period of ca 9 months. After having obtained 150 UK credits, the students can (further) concentrate on their independent business research project (30 credits). It is possible to complete the course in 12 months, although it sometimes takes 1,5 year to finish. The total number of credits of the entire programme is 180 UK credits.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme you have acquired an understanding of the interrelationship of the functional areas of management, and you will look at business issues from a holistic corporate perspective. In addition you will understand the relationship between an organization and its environment and grasp the importance of this for the development of a successful strategy and operation of the organization.

Next to knowledge extension in the field of a.o. financial management, general management and human resource management, the programme enables you to improve your personal performance. For example the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using a broad range of media. Curiosity and the need to acquire knowledge are basic conditions for successful participation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related business field plus.
  • An equivalent of 12 months fulltime and relevant working experience.
  • Minimum of TOEFL 550, IELTS 6 or similar English Language qualification.
