Introduction

Hotel Management is the ideal semester for students with entrepreneurial flair, who have good commercial insight and who are service-minded. Hotel managers translate the wishes of a guest into an appealing, customer-oriented product or service. The hospitality industry is not for those seeking a nine-to-five, Monday to Friday work pattern. It is an environment that does not appeal to everybody. However, it may be ideal for you if you want to work in a customer-focused business environment where there is a wide range of specialist opportunities and, for those who are flexible, the opportunity for rapid career progression.

Course content

In the Hotel Management semester you learn how to successfully lead a business in the international hospitality industry as a manager or entrepreneur. You learn how to find the right balance between “how do I run my business” and “how do I pamper my guests”.

This semester consists of six modules. The key module (12 credits) in this semester is Entrepreneurship in Hotel Management. This module tackles the development of an innovative and successful concept in the field of eating, drinking and/or sleeping. Innovation, creativity and being able to deliver a well-motivated financial business plan for a concept that distinguishes itself and offers a competitive advantage - these are competencies that any future independent entrepreneur or any entrepreneur within a hospitality business should possess. Alongside this module you will have other subjects like international human resource management, quantitative research, intercultural communication skills, English and event management.
