Textiellab

Textile lab

As a student in our Textile lab you will learn all about the production of textiles. You will find the most modern equipment for conducting tests on textiles, as well as for making demonstration material and prototypes.

Today textile is much more than just producing fabrics!

Today textile is much more than just producing fabrics. You will discover this for yourself in our unique laboratory. For example, we test how quickly a fabric starts to pill. And we investigate the materials from which a fabric is made.

In our textile lab you will find the most modern equipment for conducting tests on textiles, as well as for making demonstration material and prototypes. We have a knitting lab, a production lab that includes a complete weaving mill, among other things, and an industrial embroidery machine. We also have a textile chemistry lab with modern dyeing equipment, coating machines, a chromojet printer, and climate cabinets, in addition to the usual chemistry equipment. Our print lab is equipped with digital inkjet printers and 3D printers. There are also a test lab with a fabric touch tester for determining the feel, tensile strength test benches, a tear-resistance tester, and the like.

In the world of textiles ‘Smart materials’ are becoming increasingly important, and we have research facilities for this too.

At Saxion you will be prepared for any related career path, from purchasing specialist to materials expert. In this profession ‘smart materials’ are becoming increasingly important. The Fashion and Textile Technologies programme is unique in the Netherlands and is only available in Enschede. Our new lab has the most modern equipment. Here you can put all your textile knowledge to practical use. Wondering what else we think up in our lab? Or would you like to collaborate with us?
