Global Goals Jam 2017

The Global Goals Jam

The Global Goals Jam is hosted throughout 109 locations all over the world, varying from Taipei in China to Rio de Janeiro in Brasil. The DesignLab of the University of Twente is hosting it this year in Enschede. Students of Saxion University of Applied Sciences are also invited to participate in this global world changing event.

Move towards a sustainable world

During this two-day event, creative teams of designers, developers and organizers of the event get together to move towards a more sustainable world. In short design sprints, the teams will create interventions aimed at short term targets in support of the long term goals. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has established 17 global goals for sustainable development, such as no poverty, gender equality, clean water and sanitation and climate action.

This year’s focus

This year, the Global Goals Jam’s main focus will be on:

  • No poverty
  • Zero hunger
  • Good health and well-being
  • Sustainable cities and communities

This event is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and MediaLAB Amsterdam to stimulate people to contribute to the 17 global goals for sustainable development by actually starting to create and design. By getting things done on a global scale - step by step.
