Interact with staff and students in an international learning environment
Are you interested in people from other countries and other cultures? Does Europe appeal to your imagination and are you internationally focussed? Do you want to study with and learn from students with a different international background? Do you want to perform well and get the best out of yourself? If you do, this Short degree programme is intended for you!
Jointly with students from different countries, you will expand your practical skills and theoretical expertise in the professional field of Social Work during this Short degree programme in which English is the official language.
Diversity and integration are the key issues in this programme, whilst making use of the participants’ international experience and background. This Short degree programme is extra interesting if you aspire a managerial position in the future. Besides attention for research, innovations, new Social Work methods and prevention, management subjects are included in the programme as well.
Examples of the topics to be discussed are care and treatment of addicts, crime and (social) safety, migration and diversity, domestic violence, fighting poverty and several state of the art methods. Furthermore the difference is that you are explicitly counselled and work on your personal development and personal effectiveness. You will leave the University as a highly trained social worker, prepared for a management role.
First of all you have to meet the general entry requirements. Besides that, the following applies to all students wanting to enrol in this final year.
Students are eligible for admission if they have acquired 180 ECTS in a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Services or a Bachelor of Educational Care. Consequently you need to submit a letter of motivation and a curriculum vitae. Students originating from outside the EU/EEA will also be given an assessment with regard to content, which will prove whether they can enter the SDP without the need to comply with additional requirements.
English Language Proficiency
For Bachelor programmes, the admission requirement is an Academic IELTS of 6.0 or an equivalent in another language test (e.g. TOEFL 550). European (EU/EEA) students are exempted from the IELTS or TOEFL test if they can prove that English was part of their High School curriculum and exams.
When you have successfully completed this programme, you will have obtained the degree Bachelor of Social Work. The Short degree programme will ensure a broadening and deepening of your view on Social Work, a helicopter view. Furthermore, the programme prepares you for a management role. Finally, it gives you more insight into your job opportunities on the international market.
