Deventer als studentenstad

Your life as a student in Deventer

Hanseatic City, Gingerbread City, Book City and - obviously more important - Student City. The winding streets with tiny boutiques and the Brink, the city’s imposing town square, all make Deventer a convivial city. Not only that: there’s always something new to discover in this compact city.

Support hotline: Everything OK? (The name of this nation-wide campaign is Alles Oké?)

People are partying all around you during the INTRO, but you may not be having such a good time. Talking about what’s bothering you will make you feel better. The volunteers of Alles Oké will be available for you every day from 14:00 - 22:00. This service can be reached on the support hotline, by telephone or chat and is free of charge and anonymous.

We are here to help, no matter what is bothering you! And, if you want, we will try to help you find a solution so that you can confidently take a new step in the right direction. If you want to call or chat with Alles Oké, get in touch with the support hotline (English available).

NIX18 and the INTRO

In the Netherlands, no alcohol is served to students under the age of 18. This also applies during the INTRO. Good to know: INTRO participants below the age of 18 receive a different bracelet from that issued students age 18 and up.

The staff member issuing the bracelets is authorised to ask you for your ID. If you happen to turn 18 during the INTRO, you can switch bracelets on your birthday.

Are you OK? (Ben je oké is the name of the nation-wide campaign)

Are you witness to unwanted sexual behaviour? Ask the question!

Sexual harassment is not OK, neither at concerts nor at festivals or in clubs. If you believe someone is harassing you, ask: ‘Ben je oké?’

This way, we can all be assured of having a good time.

Saxion protects the privacy of all parties involved in its educational and research activities. It considers it to be its duty to handle the personal data of its stakeholders with extreme precision and transparency. For this reason, Saxion takes organisational and technical measures to prevent violations of the privacy of its current and prospective students as well as alumni, current and former employees and applicants, external parties and temporary employees, guests, and field representatives.

Saxion wants to serve as an example for its students, who will have to take on this responsibility in their own professional practice at some point as well.

We do ask students participating in the 2022 INTRO to provide us with specific personal details. This includes your name, address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, degree programme, student number, telephone number of your emergency contact, and medical data (allergies, medication, medical condition, dietary restrictions, etc.).

In the event of an emergency, some of this data will be provided to the INTRO organisation, the security staff and the catering firms. Agreements have been made with these organisations with regard to the handling of personal data. Your personal data will be deleted by the above recipients two months after the INTRO.

Photographs and video recordings will be made during the INTRO. When you participate in the INTRO, this means that visual material (photos and videos) featuring your image may be used for publicity purposes.
