Organisations are increasingly dependent on the talents of their employees. HR Professionals are expected to be able to recognise talent in organisations but to also be capable of developing, managing, judging & activating human talent.
This course will follow L&TD as seen from the organisational perspective. We will focus on the broader organisational context and strategy and the impact on the L&TD fit within the organisation. Special attention will be paid to high-performance and innovative organisations. We will also review the critical fit of L&TD within broader HR discipline and processes.

Learning goals

In this course, students:

  • Will be introduced to the Learning & Development in Organisations discipline as a part of HRM;
  • Will gain knowledge on organisational context and needs as well as the international trends affecting the organisation and L&TD practice directly;
  • Will be introduced to the L&TD fit within other HR processes;
  • Will evaluate the full cycle of the: needs assessments; development of practical strategies, design and evaluation of the L&TD;
  • Will explore new trends in the L&TD area, starting with the concept of the learning culture;
  • (On the organisational practical side), we will focus on the application of strategies and tools in terms of needs assessment, L&TD delivery and evaluation.
