Ambient Intelligence lab
In our Ambient Intelligence lab we develop smart applications related to safety and sports. We also investigate ways of providing people with feedback from measurements, to change their behaviour for example.

Lightweight Construction lab
In our Lightweight Construction lab we make products from composites. We do this at a lower cost than is customary in this industry.
In this lab we make devices that comprise mechanics, electronics, and software. The function of these devices is to make something move quickly, yet accurately – such as a robot.
Health & Wellbeing lab
What do you do with someone who suddenly becomes very ill? Does the patient receive an infusion, medication, or rest? You learn this in our Health & Wellbeing lab. Here you work with a lifelike robot – a simulated patient – that produces changes in blood pressure and can even sweat and bleed.
In the Circular Textile Lab, machines on a small so-called “pilot” scale are used for the production of fibers, yarns and subsequently for weaving or knitting fabrics. These materials and products can then be analyzed for, for example, chemical composition, mechanical (strength) properties, color fastness, etc. The labs are used for education and research. Students, teachers and researchers from research groups and industry work together on challenges in the short and long term.
Foot & Poly
The Foot & Poly was established by our Podotherapy students. Here they gain practical experience under the supervision of a podiatrist by giving free foot treatments.
LEGO Education Innovation Studio
At the Saxion LEGO Education Innovation Studio (Saxion Lego Studio, for short) children from 8 to 14 years old are introduced to technology. By providing fun, technical workshops we try to spark their interest in natural science and technology at a young age.
Prototyping in FabLab
In our high-tech public workplace, everyone is challenged to make things themselves using various computer-controlled prototyping machines such as 3D printers, laser cutters, 3D scanners, textile machines etc. Students are encouraged to openly share their designs and ideas. The focus is mainly on ‘doing it yourself.’ We can help you and offer support through holding open office hours workshops or offering specific courses for realising your project.

Lab for Sustainable Energy and Smart Energy
In this lab we develop and test system concepts for the system integration of Sustainable Energy (distributed heat and electricity) and building-related concepts for the heat and electricity supply (including solar PV, solar heat, heat pumps, ventilation systems) and concepts for industrial energy savings.
Lab for bio-energy and bio-based process technology
In this lab we develop and test lab/pilot-scale processes to improve the efficiency of bio-energy concepts. We also work on biological/chemical conversion processes for the extraction of materials (including nutrients and bioplastics) from agricultural waste flows.
In the Social Legal Services (SLS) programme's practicalLAB – SLS Works – students, teachers, and researchers work together with professionals from the field on solutions for societal and social/legal issues.
In these laboratories we develop, build, and test microtechnological and nanotechnological systems, such as sensors, modified surfaces, and new materials.
Students, lecturers and researchers work with professionals from the field on innovative and sustainable solutions to safety & security issues in the Safety&SecurityLAB.
Extended Reality Lab
In recent years advancements in hardware and computing power have led to new developments in the field of virtual and augmented reality, computer graphics, machine learning and computer vision. To explore this new technology and its applications, the Saxion XR labs is offering hardware, support, expertise and dedicated workspaces.
3D metal printing lab
Saxion is the first university of applied sciences to have a 3D metal printer as the connecting technology between research and education.
3D concrete printing lab
Within this lab, research group Industrial Design, together with regional partners, is developing a 3D concrete printer and various innovative applications.
In the Surface Lab you can work with various techniques to apply a functional surface to your own product or prototype.
