This course will focus on:
• Understanding of the meaning(s) of 'culture'
• The experiencing and analysing of cultural differences via the following different models:
- Hall’s model of Cultural Differences
- Kluckhohn’s Model of Basic Assumptions
- Hofstede’s 6 Dimensions of Culture
- Trompenaar’s 7 Dimensions and Cultural Synergy
• Understanding of the Intercultural Sensitivity growth process
• Understanding the stages of culture shock
• Understanding the importance of communication in relation to cultural differences

Learning goals

At the end of this course, students:
1. are able to differ, understand and provide definitions of 'culture', as well as:
  - Construct own definition of the concept of 'culture'
- Define and analyse the different layers of 'culture'
2. Are able to apply the four culture models (Hall, Kluckhohn, Hofstede, Trompenaar) to an:
  - analysis of different cultural situations, as well as
- Analysis of own cultural background 
3. Are able to use the 'Growth Process in Intercultural Sensitivity' to:
  - Recognise and analyse stages of the growth process in different cultural situations
  - Recognise and analyse different strategies to overcome the hindering factors in the process in different cultural situations
