This course will focus on the development of coaching skills and the application of these skills in a work related setting. This course is aimed at further professional skill development in your IHRM study programme. While Professional Communication Skills 1 introduced you to the five roles of an HR professional (PAHR model), this course in coaching focusses on the coaching role specifically. This course is designed to explore the role and skills of a coach within a work related context. As an HR professional you will need to be able to act as a coach and know about coaching in many different settings. This course will show the use of coaching in personal development. 

This course provides you with the chance to experience coaching and learn about coaching from two different perspectives:  

  • Experience what it is like being a coach.  
  • Experience what it is like being coached: as a client 
Test Form Assessment (AS)

Test criteria

The student can achieve 3 credit points (EC) for this course. In order to pass this course students need to deliver the following: 

  • A report on coaching for personal development which contains of 2 parts: 
    • Act as a coach (64%) 
    • Reflection as a client (36%) 
  • 3 audio/video recordings of the coaching sessions in which they acted as the coach, each session should last at least 30 minutes
