The course International & Comparative Employment Law I is an introduction to International and Comparative Law. If you start your internship at an HR department or start working as an HR Officer in a multinational or transnational organisation, you will have to deal with a large variety of legal systems, regulations, laws, statutes and cases.

In this course, the focus will be on learning the basic principles of employment law. These basic employment law standards, developed by International Employment Organisations (ILO) are used to give an overview of international values. Domestic legal systems must comply with these standards.

In the course International & Comparative Employment Law I, you will learn how to find and read relevant employment law. This legal information helps you to answer the basic questions of employers or employees on contracts, working conditions, social security, etc.

To be able to find the relevant rules of employment law, you need to be aware of the differences between legal systems. As you are studying in the Netherlands, we have chosen to focus on the Dutch legal system. To emphasise the differences, we sometimes compare these rights and obligations with German Employment Law.
