This course consists of two elements, divided over two terms: in the first term we offer weekly workshops and an assignment that you hand in at the end of the first term. In the second term we offer weekly consultations to help you with research and your SSS project report. During the Applied Research course, students learn to write a research plan based on the Design Thinking method. This course prepares students for their final project assignment. The student selects a topic and conducts brief desk research for the empathise phase. We also work on to defining a problem statement, research questions, method description and correct source referencing in accordance with APA guidelines. The research plan is not executed. A usability test plan is also produced, but not executed, as this course is not focused on the execution of the solution.
