Welcome to the module Garment Construction Techniques I. In this course you will get a better insight in the development process of garments. Pattern making is a highly skilled technique that requires technical skills and a practical understanding of garment construction. We will also learn to look critically at a design and translate it into patterns, as creating patterns is a fundamental step between design and production.

Test criteria

1. The student is able to take body measurements, make calculations and manually draw various basic pattern construction for woven fabrics in own size. 
2. The student is able to make variations based on a technical drawing of the model.
3. The student is able to develope pattern pieces in scale 1:4 according to the pattern drafting guidelines
4. The student is able to draw a detailed technical drawing of the variations in right proportions according to the guidelines of technical drawing.
5. The student is able to describe the model in terms of fit, silhouette, finish, closures and other additional features.
