This project concludes the core component of the HBO-IT programme. For this project, you’ll need all the skills and competences you acquired during the first two years of your time here. Your objective is to resolve an (external) client's issue by implementing a software solution in a solid, methodological manner. Consider this project as your final test before you start your internship.
For the duration of project you are an employee of the fictitious (and simulated) company “HBO-IT Inc.”. Each team acts independently and has their own real-life client. Each group has their own assignment and works solely for their own client. The work that needs doing (and thus what will be handed in at the end of the project) is dependent on the client's requirements. But the company (HBO-IT Inc., i.e. your lecturers) has imposed an additional requirement: each team member has to prove themselves to be a competent software engineer. This requirement is met by submitting proof of your contribution, as well as the overall success of the project.

Learning goals

The student can analyse the context and the problem statement for the company, to get a clear idea of the assignment and the scope of the assignment. The student can also clearly define formulate the requirements and the limits of the requested solution, and validate whether these have been achieved.
The student is able to design an (information based) system which would resolve the problem statement, and meets some predefined requirements. The student can produce the design using techniques taught in previous modules.
The student can, based on a design, create a solution that resolves a given problem and verify if the solution was successful.
The student can implement techniques and processes that contribute to the development (and maintenance) of a solution.
The student can give longer term advice on the implementations and further development of the designed solution.
The student communicates with, and presents towards, clients in a professional, honest and timely manner.
