The course provides an introduction in the world of energy and particular electrical energy. The emphasis of the course is on the modelling of transmission- and distribution networks. Students explore the alternatives for generation of electrical energy. The course provides the background knowledge required for working with transport network simulation software packages.
Test Form Assessment (AS)

Test criteria

- Generation of electrical energy (coal, hydrogen, natural gas, sun, water, etc.) - Power and power factor calculations in single phase and three phase power - Losses in power distribution systems - Network calculations for balanced and unbalanced, star- and delta connected, ABC and CBA sequence three phase networks - The per unit system representation - Single line equivalent diagrams - Numeric solving of non-linear equations (in power flow calculations) - Load flow calculations - Short circuit calculations (symmetrical)
