The applied research project is an individual project (level: main phase 1, duration: 1 quarter) in which the student develops a professional product fitting the field of hospitality and tourism by which a client's question is answered. The client may be an internal entity (e.g. lectorate, theme lecturer, international office) or an external organization.

This module may be offered to exchange students and students directly entering the main phase our English-taught HM and TM programmes. This module then serves as a replacement for the 2nd modern foreign language in the main phase (because these students did not take this modern foreign language in the propaedeutic phase). The module must meet the requirements of partner universities (in the case of exchange students) and requires approval from the examination board (in case it is offered to students directly entering the main phase of HM or TM). Not all of these students necessarily need to take this module. Depending on the student's background, it might also be possible to join the 2nd modern second language (or another module) in the main phase. It is preferred if this can be done.
