Circular Bedroom
Auping aims to make the bedroom fully circular. Through the project ‘Transition to a Circular Bedroom’, Auping, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, Spinning Jenny, Textile4Ever and CuRe Technology are working together on the development of circular solutions for Auping’s box spring models. This project is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF 2021–2027 East Netherlands) with an amount of over 1.8 million euros, of which 230,000 goes to Saxion.
Project goal
Within the project, alternatives are being developed for materials such as sheet material, steel, wood and upholstery fabrics. Each partner contributes based on the expertise from their own field. Saxion University of Applied Sciences is involved through three research groups: Sustainable & Functional Textiles, Industrial Design, and Lightweight Structures. Together, the partners explore circular alternatives for all components of the box spring, with a focus on designing according to the R-ladder, in order to create the most sustainable product possible.
