Learning goals

The student is able to recount and substantiate the process steps, machines and methods involved in mechanical finishing techniques for various textiles. The student knows the names of different types of fabrics and can identify fabric samples and production methods, based on their mechanical finish. The student is able to specify and identify the various processes and methods involved in adding a chemical finish to textiles. The student is able to use and discuss textile aids that are used for chemical finishing. The student is able to recount and explain the impact mechanical and chemical finishes have on the environment. The student is able to select and analyse fashion fabrics based on (WGSN) trends, sustainability developments and material properties (shape, texture, structure, coating).
