Karin Verschoor appointed as member of the Saxion Executive Board

The Saxion Supervisory Board has named Karin Verschoor as new member of the Executive Board as of 1 January 2026. Karin is currently Head of School at the School of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (SCE). She will succeed current interim board member Suzan Koning.

Karl Dittrich, Chair of the Supervisory Board: “The Executive Board is pleased to announce today that Karin Verschoor will become a member of our Executive Board from 1 January 2026. The internal vacancy procedure has led to this excellent outcome. The Executive Board is being complemented by someone who knows Saxion’s culture well, understands the significance of Saxion for the region, and also knows the challenges facing Saxion in the coming years. We have full confidence that Karin will manage the Education and Internationalisation portfolios with great energy and enthusiasm. We look forward to our collaboration!”

About Karin Verschoor

Karin has a long career at Saxion, the last seven years as Head of School at the School of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (SCE). After graduating in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Groningen, she started her career as an employment researcher/ exercise scientist at Roessingh Revalidation Centre in Enschede. In 2001 she made the switch to Saxion. There she started as a lecturer in Physical Therapy at the School of Health (AGZ) and progressed to team leader during the period to 2014. She was then manager at the School of Marketing & International Management (MIM) for 3 years.

In addition to being Head at SCE, she temporarily filled the role of interim head at the School of Applied Psychology and Human Resource Management (AMA) and AGZ in 2021 and 2024. Since September 2021 she has been president of the Higher Economic Education (HEO) sector council. The sector plan ‘Creating Value Together for Broad Prosperity’ was drafted during her presidency. The plan includes a coherent set of goals and agreements to strengthen the quality, topicality and social value of economic education and applied research to make the sector as a whole more agile and future-proof.

Karin Verschoor: “Over the past few years, I have contributed with great pleasure and in various roles to today’s Saxion. It is an honour to take this next step now as a member of the Executive Board. I want to continue to build a university of applied sciences where students and staff feel at home and are given the space to develop further every day. Together with our regional partners, I want to contribute through our education and research to a resilient, vibrant region that is ready for the future.”

With the arrival of Karin Verschoor, the Executive Board strengthens its options for the further implementation of Saxion’s ambitions in the field of education and research, together with students, staff and partners in the region. Together with Inge Grimm (President) and Richard Wielinga (Vice-President), Karin will complete the Saxion Executive Board as of 1 January.
