Carmelo Messina is new member of Saxion Supervisory Board

Reading time Minutes

Carmelo Messina (57) will be joining Saxion’s Supervisory Board on 1 January 2026. He will succeed Paul Koch who has been a member of the board for 8 years.

The Supervisory Board is pleased to have found Carmelo Messina as a good successor to Paul Koch. He has considerable experience and expertise in the fields of finance and IT. The Audit Committee and Supervisory Board as a whole, can certainly use this expertise in a time of forced budget cuts and proposed organisational change. At the same time, we of course continue to look at new developments and opportunities. We warmly welcome Carmelo to the Board and to Saxion!” says Karl Dittrich, Chair of the Supervisory Board.

Carmelo Messina has extensive executive and leadership experience. Until the end of March 2024, he was CFO at Odin Groep, consisting of the IT companies Previder and Cloudwise. There he was responsible for designing and realising the growth strategy as well as for HR and three expert roles (Security, Quality and Legal). Carmelo Messina held various positions in his time at KPMG, from being an auditing and finance professional, to accountant and consultant to equity partner and chairperson of the Northeast region. He worked both nationally and internationally. Since April last year, Carmelo Messina has been focusing on compliance roles, small-scale advisory assignments and investments. For example, he is currently a member of the Supervisory Board and chair of the audit committee at N.V. Bergkwartier (society for urban restoration).

Carmelo Messina: “I really want to contribute to the further development of Saxion in the field of entrepreneurship and managed progress. In doing so, I expect to gain new insights about the positive contribution of applied research. I’m looking forward to it.”

In addition to Carmelo Messina, the Saxion Supervisory Board consists of Karl Dittrich (Chair), Christa Boer, Benno Siegert and Henrike Branderhorst. Paul Koch has been a member of the Supervisory Board for 8 years and will be departing with the arrival of Carmelo in January.

Saxion wishes Carmelo Messina every success as a member of the Supervisory Board and thanks Paul Koch for his hard work and commitment these past years.
