Businesses from Kreis Borken visit Saxion research groups

Reading time: Minutes

Collaborate with Saxion and our research groups? Still unchartered territory to many German companies. A good reason for the WFG für den Kreis Borken (business development agency for Kreis Borken) to organise a visit to the Centre for Entrepreneurship to discover innovations, develop contacts, and get inspired.

We recently welcomed a group of entrepreneurs from the German region Kreis Borken for the Tech Camp Campus Tour. During the visit, participants got acquainted with innovative technologies and research facilities at Saxion. The goal of the visit was to inspire German companies through technological developments and opportunities for collaboration.

During the visit, the entrepreneurs got a behind-the-scenes look at various research and innovation labs at Saxion. For example, a tour by Professor Ferrie van Hattum of the lab for Lightweight Structures. This is where products and components are produced using thermoplastic composites.

The programme also included a presentation by the Data + AI Lab. A recognisable and current theme for many businesses. The entrepreneurs were then guided to the Smart Mechatronics and Robotics Research Group by robot dog LASS-E. Here they received an explanation of current work and developments, for example, a picking robot for vegetables and fruit.

The Tech Camp Campus Tour is an initiative of the ‘Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft für den Kreis Borken’ (Kreis Borken Business Development Agency) and aims to strengthen co-operation between knowledge institutions and companies on both sides of the border. For Saxion, these kinds of gatherings are an opportunity to share knowledge, make new contacts in the Euregio, and collaborate on solving innovation issues faced by businesses.
