The aim of the Recan 2 project is to be able to determine qualitatively and quantitatively content of recycled fibers in recycled textiles. At the moment there is no standard that stipulates the minimum amount of reprocessed waste textiles in a cloth, so that the designation can be called “recycled”. This is partly due to the fact that at this point it is not possible to determine the recycled content afterwards. Our goal is to develop a measuring technique for this. In addition, we want to propose a form of categorization towards the industry.
The project runs from October 2019 till December 2020.
