In the world of media, images are produced for a purpose: to communicate a message, a meaning, an emotion, a story. Images are composed using visual elements like shape, line, colour, light and texture. You will learn about these visual elements, and how to combine them in a creative and efficient way in order to create effective images which serve a purpose. This module will help you notice and distinguish these visual elements, and you will see how visual imagery creates meaning.

In the theory lectures you will learn to observe and analyse. In lab sessions and during the final assignment, you put that theory into practice. You explore drawing and photography to convey your ideas as sketches and photos, then edit and expand those using Adobe Photoshop. Furthermore, you will learn about the purpose and application of typefaces.
