Level 2 The newly qualified professional knows a lot about state-of-the-art technology in raw materials, materials, production (knitting, weaving, non-wovens and making-up), finishing (including printing) and the international textile and fashion supply chain. They are capable of conducting technical research and analysis, and applying these results.

Learning goals

The student is able to analyse and choose the most appropriate printing process, method and machine, and is able to identify and compare official printed fabric names and properties. The student is able to specify different fabric properties and knows how to achieve these effects using different textile coatings, lamination and machines. The student is familiar with Tricot and Raschel machines as well as computerised flat knitting machines, and knows how these can be used for sustainable production. The student is familiar with jacquard and warp knits, as well as ordinary weaves, and can specify and analyse their properties.
