The course Power Circuits gives an introduction in the basic power components that can be found in electric power systems, e.g. a power supply or E-Bike. In broad terms, the task of electric power systems is to process and control the flow of electric energy by supplying voltages and currents in a form that is optimally suited for the user loads. The power input to this system is usually (but not always) from the electric utility (grid), with a frequency of 50 Hz (or 60Hz). In this course the focus will be on the subsystems and components for a power application: a system connected to the mains utility (grid) for controlling the speed of a DC motor.
