Lunch Lecture and Workshop: Life Cycle Assessment for Supporting the Transition Towards a Circular Built Environment

The programme is being developed by the Sustainable Building Technology (SBT) research group in collaboration with Industrial Design (ID) and Lightweight Constructions (LC). It focuses on the application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and other environmental assessment methods to support sustainable and circular decision-making within the construction sector.

We are pleased to welcome Maarten Schäffner, an expert in LCA and the circular economy in the built environment, as our guest speaker. During his presentation, he will share insights from both research and practice, highlighting opportunities and challenges related to the use of LCA in achieving a more sustainable construction industry.

In addition to the lecture, participants will take part in small-group discussions exploring the role of LCA and environmental impact assessment in the transition towards a circular economy. Topics will include the relationship between European strategies, national implementation, industrial practice, and digitalisation.
