Update 26: More information about the new academic year

Reading time Minutes

During the press conference on Wednesday 24th June, the cabinet announced that education can be further reopened after the summer holidays.

This is positive news because this easing means more opportunities to meet each other in the new academic year. This of course in line with guidelines that still apply, such as spreading use of our buildings to uphold the 1.5 metres rule. In this update we will take you through this process, what it means for our education and for you and your work after the summer.

Anka Mulder: “We are all looking forward to meeting each other at Saxion again and we’ll be taking a look at how we can make the best use of the space that will be available. We are aiming to offer a good mix of on-campus and online education for our students.”

Term 1

We have made good progress in the scheduling for term 1. We now have to look at to what extent we can still make adjustments as a result of the easing of restrictions. The guidelines regarding 1.5 metres within locations and agreements with public transport are and remain basic principles we have to comply with. Spreading education as much as possible is crucial in this. Spreading to avoid peaks in public transport and building use, but also to use the available spaces as optimally as possible. More information will follow as soon as we have taken the next step in this process. Given that restrictions also apply to term 1, the emphasis will remain on online education. The timetable will be published no later than 24th August.

Our previously formulated key principles (see infographic below) still apply.

Exams with due care

We have now entered the exam period at Saxion. This year exams are often more different than usual. We understand that this may be more complicated, especially if you have online exams. We wish our students a lot of success with the last steps of this special academic year.

Are you joining us for the Closing of the Academic Year?

We would like to invite you to attend our Closing of the Academic Year 2019-2020 via livestream on Thursday 2 July from 2 - 3 p.m. Once again from the Wilmink Theatre, only this time online. We even dare to say it is guaranteed to be a special event. In the first place thanks to our enthusiastic presenter Erik Dijkstra, fascinating table guests and a visit from Minister of Education, Culture and Science Ingrid van Engelshoven. Don't miss out!
