Update 2: Saxion closely follows coronavirus developments
Due to recent developments in the Netherlands concerning the coronavirus, the Executive Board of Saxion feels responsible for ensuring a safe study and working environment. We keep in mind our students abroad and international students who study at Saxion. This is why a safety team has been active since last week, closely following developments around the coronavirus and considering what measures need to be taken.
The team closely follows the advice we receive from the RIVM and GGD. To date there have been no cases of the virus at Saxion. On our website a FAQ has been set up with frequently asked questions and is regularly updated.
Saxion is monitoring the situation
The safety team is busy with the development of various scenarios. These concern medical measures as well as the continuation of management and education. It is important that Saxion can act quickly when needed and that good information is provided.
What can you do yourself?
Just like with any other virus such as the flu and colds, the same applies to coronavirus: pay attention to your personal hygiene! Do you want to know what good hygiene is? Check these tips. Handwash instructions can be found in all Saxion buildings within the next couple of days.
The most important measures that you can take yourself are:
-
Wash your hands regularly (check how to do that correctly here)
-
Cough and sneeze into the fold of your elbow
-
Use paper tissues
Saxion expects students and staff to take responsibility in helping each other and addressing each other when necessary.
If you suspect an infection?
To properly assess what measures we need to take, it is important that students and staff inform us immediately if they suspect that they are infected with the coronavirus. Students should report this by telephone or by mail to the front office of their school (for contact details of schools see FAQ). As member of staff you should follow the standard sickness protocol.
Do you have flu symptoms?
Have you been to any of the areas below where the coronavirus is prevalent and do you have a fever with respiratory complaints (coughing and/or shortness of breath)? Please contact your general practitioner by telephone. These complaints may be the start of COVID-19. We also recommend this (in guideline with RIVM) if you have been in contact with a patient with COVID-19 in the past two weeks.
