09-09-2020 Corona-update: Student tests positive

Reading time Minutes

A Saxion student, who was at our Deventer location on 3 September, has reported that they have tested positive for coronavirus. This person is now in quarantine at home for 10 days, together with family members. As far as we are aware, given the circumstances, the student is doing well.

For privacy reasons, we will not be making any further announcements. The class and teachers who might have come into contact with the student have been informed.

Source and contact tracing

The student concerned was in the main Saxion premises in Deventer during the contagious period. The regional Municipal Health Service (GGD) is conducting a source and contact tracing investigation. In this, the student's contacts will be traced and checked from two days before symptoms arose until the start of quarantine. Depending on the intensity of the contact (mutual distance and duration of contact), the GGD recommends measures such as quarantine or alertness to possible symptoms.

We follow the guidance of the GGD and RIVM when making decisions and taking follow-up steps regarding coronavirus. Of course we do all we can to prevent possible infections in our buildings, including walking routes, extra cleaning and enforcing the 1.5 metre social distancing rule. It is of utmost importance that you as a student or staff member do not enter our buildings if you have any symptoms!

Symptoms?

Stay at home and make an appointment for a corona test. Do you have mild symptoms such as a cold, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, slight cough or raised temperature? And/or do you have a sudden loss of smell or taste? Get tested and stay home until the results are known. In this way we can control the spread of the virus and protect each other. You can make an appointment in 2 ways.

  1. To make an appointment call: (0800) 12 02 (between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.). Have your citizen service number (BSN) at hand (can be found on your ID card).
  2. Or make an appointment online at:www.coronatest.nl (log in with your DigiD).

For general questions and answers about coronavirus, please visit the RIVM website. If you have questions about the test and quarantine, check the GGD website.
