Saxion is pleased to announce that the proposal for second phase of the E3UDRES2 Alliance (The Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable Regions) has been approved by the European Commission. This significant achievement reinforces Saxion's position as a leading institution in research, teaching, innovation, and entrepreneurship for its region.

Why Saxion?

Saxion couldn’t be more of a perfect fit for this alliance. Both the E³UDRES² alliance and Saxion seek to promote forward-thinking concepts for future-proof learning and future universities by combining challenge-based, mission-oriented and human-centered research and innovation. Further, the universities are all based in small-medium sized cities and their rural areas and focused on the development of smart and sustainable regions in Europe.

What does this mean for students, schools and staff?

Saxion’s acceptance into the E³UDRES²  alliance not only recognises it’s academic excellence but also underscores our dedication to international cooperation, the development of smart and sustainable regions and interdisciplinary approaches to education and research. Through this alliance, Saxion gains access to an extensive and exclusive network of European universities, opening doors to collaboration and providing the students, schools and staff with exciting new opportunities. Students will benefit from increased mobility within Europe and become part of one multi-campus European university.

What is E³UDRES²?

E³UDRES² is an acronym for Engaged and Entrepreneurial European (3xE=E³) University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable (2xS = S²) Regions. Sounds more complicated than it really is - if you say E³UDRES² out loud, you would just say it as "you-dress," without the numbers involved.

E3UDRES2 is a European University Alliance composed of nine higher education institutions committed to collaboration, knowledge exchange, and building a European network that cooperates and collaborates in the fields of research, teaching, innovation and entrepreneurship.  Not only will this strengthen the university alliances within Enschede creating new opportunities for collaboration and growth, but it also aims to shape a progressive European society, promote European values, and strengthen the European identity. This institutionalized collaboration will have a lasting and transformative impact, and a large student population will have the opportunity to participate in E³UDRES² activities.
