Here are experiences from the two of the latest events within E³UDRES².
Technology and Health in Portugal
The Blended Intensive Program (BIP) “Technological Solutions for Healthy Development” brought together students from multiple countries and academic backgrounds all the way in Portugal, at Polytechnic Institute of Setubal. They started with an online appetizer that prepared them for the intensive week onsite. There, the students explored how technology can contribute to healthier, more sustainable communities.
Jasmijn is a nursing student who participated in this program. She told us about the inspiring week she experienced there with her team, focusing on stress eating among young people. They took classes about food waste and technologies used in healthcare, and finally they proudly pitched their solution.
The one week in Portugal became an unforgettable memory.
Jasmijn worked with students from various countries and cultures, which she found utterly fascinating to learn. But besides all the academical knowledge she gained, Jasmijn had the time of her life together with other students, while doing wall climbing, mountain biking and even kayaking. What Jasmijn experienced in Portugal for one week became an unforgettable memory. She wholeheartedly encourages more students to take part in such activities because it is indeed unmissable.
Startups en Vibe-Coding in Belgium
Another remarkable event was the Boost Impact Week in Belgium, hosted by UCLL, where students managed to bond beyond the assignment. Dina, Robert and Thomas were team Barbosa who won first place in the pitch battle in front of local entrepreneurs. They developed Mentorly.me, a platform designed for early-stage startups who are looking for support and meaningful connections.
Dina describes Mentorly.me as: “where guidance meets opportunity”. She led with vision, bringing the main idea to life, shaping the concept, and guiding the team.
Thomas’ role was vibe-coding, turning the ideas into a working product through rapid, AI-assisted development using Claude Code.
Robert characterized the week as both challenging and revelatory as he was pushed by his peers to stop overthinking and start acting. For him, this adventure was just the beginning and gave him the necessary impulse to bring his ideas to life.
As from a teacher's point of view, Marije Draaijer, Cultural Anthropologist and professor at Saxion, who was their coach during this project, said: “What struck me the most was not the product, but the team spirit.” and concluded: “It was a week that generated energy.”
