We believe in a dynamic learning environment where experimentation, innovation and implementation are key. We use XR technology for education, research and practice. We do this in the field of health care and social work.
Our mission is 2-fold: 1) embedding XR technology in education, and 2) leading the way in the application of XR technology through applied research.

The XR hub gets education and professional partners in the domain of Health & Well-being involved in applied research in the further development of new concepts, implementation and added value of XR.

How the XR hub works
The XR hub consists of a project team whose members are in direct contact with the study programmes and research groups at the School of Health and School of Social Work. Options for enriching the XR programme are currently being explored in consultation with lecturer teams and curriculum committees. The XR hub facilitates the implementation of XR according to the ‘I do, We do, You do’ principle (Pearson & Gallagher, 1983).
Our facilities
The lab has 22 VR glasses (Quest2 and Quest3) with a number of different realities that can be experienced. Furthermore, the XR hub in Enschede includes an area where small groups (5-6 people) can experience a reality through VR glasses. The XR hub also has 2 mobile storage cabinets (1 in Enschede and 1 in Deventer) for transporting 20 VR glasses between rooms at Saxion. In this mobile case, the glasses can be charged and cleaned with UV light.
