What is the GRACE master's programme?
The GRACE programme, a joint master's initiative, focuses on teaching the art and science of Extended Reality (XR) and gamification. This interdisciplinary programme helps students develop advanced XR tools that revolutionise professional education, training, and skill development in sectors such as healthcare, education, and industry. The programme spans four semesters, immersing students in XR and gamification fundamentals, specialised courses in game design and educational methodologies, high-fidelity prototype development, and the business aspects of XR products.

Requirements 2025-2026
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Game Development, Game Design, Creative Computing, Digital Games, Information Technology, Multimedia Technology, Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation, Extended Reality, AR/VR/XR Development & Design, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS 6.0 is required for non-native English speakers.
Intended start date and location
The programme starts annually in September. The first three semesters are held in St. Pölten, Austria; Enschede, The Netherlands; and Valmiera, Latvia. The fourth semester is completed at one of these three locations, depending on the thesis supervisor assignment. The programme's start is contingent upon the successful completion of the accreditation process, which is currently underway. We are seeking accreditation at the European Approach level and expect to receive the outcome by the end of this calendar year. This is before the intended start of the programme in September 2025.
