The newly qualified professional knows a lot about state-of-the-art technology in raw materials, materials, production (knitting, weaving, non-wovens and making-up), finishing (including printing) and the international textile and fashion supply chain. They are capable of conducting technical research and analysis, and applying these results.

Learning goals

The student is able to classify fabrics based on weave type (plain, twill, satin) and is able to identify, compare and evaluate fabric properties. The student is able to specify and understand the weaving process and different loom components (dobby, eccentric and jacquard). The student is able to specify and discuss how fabrics are used (depending on the binding). The student is able to specify and understand the knitting process and the different knitting machine components (flat knitting machine). The student is familiar with RR and RL knitting structures, and is able to explain and work with these structures.
