As an international student studying at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, one of the best ways to experience the local culture is by exploring the city of Deventer. And what better way to do that than by trying out the many cafes and restaurants that the city has to offer?

Whether you're looking for a cosy spot to study or a place to catch up with friends, Deventer has something to offer everyone. In this article, I will introduce you to four of my most visited cafes and restaurants in Deventer that are perfect for students. From the charming Parkcafé Mees to the delicious Kreta Mezes & Grill, these spots are sure to become your new favourites in no time. So, grab your friends and your appetite and get ready to explore the culinary delights of Deventer!

Parkcafé Mees

Located in the charming Worpplantsoen park, Parkcafé Mees is a must-visit spot. As someone who has spent many afternoons there, I can highly recommend their cosy and inviting atmosphere, paired with their delectable menu. Whenever I visit, my go-to order is the Chai Latte, which I drank for the first time exactly there and it has become my favourite. I always pair it with their delicious apple pie, a perfect combination of crispy crust and warm apple filling. Whether you're looking to study or catch up with friends, the combination of comfort, delicious treats, and a stunning park view make Parkcafé Mees an experience you won't want to miss out on!

Kreta Mezes & Grill

Kreta Mezes & Grill is a go-to destination for students looking to enjoy authentic and delicious Greek cuisine. From gyros and souvlaki to meze platters, their menu is sure to satisfy your cravings. I highly recommend trying their Greek moussaka and calamari, both of which are perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. With its cosy atmosphere and affordable prices, it's no wonder why Kreta Mezes & Grill is a favourite among locals and students. Don't miss out on the chance to experience their flavourful dishes!

Café de Waagschaal

Café de Waagschaal has always been my go-to spot for a budget-friendly and tasty lunch. Their lunch menu is full of delicious options, including salads, sandwiches, and soups, all at an affordable price. My personal favourite is their tosti, which is only 3,50 Euros and always hits the spot. With its cosy atmosphere and friendly service, Café de Waagschaal is the perfect spot to grab a quick and satisfying lunch between classes. If you're looking for a place to enjoy great food without breaking the bank, be sure to give Café de Waagschaal a try!
