I initially started studying a language-focused programme but soon realized I wanted something more practical and people-oriented. What appealed to me most about this degree is its broad and diverse scope, covering different areas of management and hospitality. It allows me to explore various career paths and interests, such as event organisation, revenue management, new languages, and other cultures. It also offers the opportunity to go abroad and apply what I learn in real-life settings."

How have you experienced the programme so far?

"So far, I have had a very positive experience with the programme. I really enjoy the courses, as they are both engaging and relevant to my future career in the hotel industry. What made you choose this company or organization?

" I wanted to explore a different aspect of the hotel industry than what I was already familiar with. Instead of focusing on the operational side, I wanted to gain insight into the other areas that contribute to a hotel’s success. Rotana offered me this opportunity. In addition, Rotana is a well-respected local company in Abu Dhabi, which made it the perfect place to experience the culture and values of the UAE firsthand."

What’s been the most fun or unexpected experience during your internship?

"One of the most fun and unexpected parts of my internship has been exploring the city while fully embracing the fact that I am a tourist. On my days off, I tried to see and do as much as possible, which led to many memorable experiences, such as cycling on the Abu Dhabi F1 track and visiting the world’s largest waterpark. Another rewarding aspect has been meeting new people from different backgrounds, which has added an extra dimension to my experience abroad."

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned during your internship?

" The most important thing I’ve learned during my internship is gaining a clearer insight into what I do and do not want in my future career. In addition, I discovered that I am capable of moving abroad on my own and creating a life in a new country. Initially, I was apprehensive about this step, but in hindsight, it turned out to be exactly the experience I needed to grow both personally and professionally."

What is your ultimate dream or ambition?

"My ultimate ambition is to build a career in the hospitality industry where I can combine creativity, organizational skills, and management abilities. I hope to work in an international environment, possibly in hotel development or events, where I can contribute to creating memorable guest experiences while continuing to grow and learn from different cultures."

What is your best tip for students looking for a great internship opportunity?

"Don't be afraid to go outside your comfort zone, that way you can have the most authentic experience."
