Organisation and professionalisation of education

The growing shortage of teachers and the resulting increase in inequality of opportunity have led to a growing demand for solutions. We look at how education can be organised differently. Our focus is on the professionalisation of teachers in response to the challenges posed by a different organisation of education.

Helping to educate students in a high-tech, fast-paced society, where we also must deal with current issues such as teacher shortages, places great demands on schools and education professionals. Our research addresses the challenges of redesigning education and professionalising teachers.

Main research themes

Well-organised education includes teaching from a vision, a manageable workload for education professionals and a school that is flexible in dealing with challenges such as teacher shortages. Our research includes exploring the value of team teaching, job differentiation and breaking down the curriculum-year class system etc.

Our aim is to support and stimulate learning from and with each other in the world of education. We do this through research on learning in networks. We also learn through national and international networks. The Dalton Research Group, Jenaplan Research Group and Montessori Research Group are examples.

Good education requires good educational professionals. We conduct research on the development of teachers, teaching assistants, school principals and other educational professionals. We see professionalisation in the context of the challenges and opportunities of organising education and technology differently.
