Housing for exchange students

How to request housing 

In case you are an exchange student (including non-EU/EEA students) you can indicate if you would like to reserve a room via the Saxion exchange application in the Saxion application portal. 

Please note we only have limited availability.   

Application deadline  

You can indicate you would be interested in reserving a Saxion room via your exchange application until 1st of May 2026 for our fall semester. 

Rental costs 💰 

The standard period for exchange students, that get assigned to a Saxion room, is one semester (5.5/6 months). The ending date of the contract is to be announced. It is not possible to cut the contract short before the end date. The rental fee for a Saxion room for this period is dependent on the location and room type that you will be assigned to (e.a. m2 and energy label).  

Deventer: most rooms have the same m2 and all rooms have same energy label. The rental price per month tba. 
Enschede: rental price per room differs. The rental price per month is between tba. A double room option in our Saxion housing is tba. 
 
Rental prices above include all utilities, such as water, gas, electricity and WiFi etc. 

Additionally, a deposit of approximately € 500,- is required. This deposit will be refunded after leaving the accommodation tidy, clean and without any damages. Details on the type of rooms Saxion offers can be found in this website.   

Payment deadline ✅ 

The Saxion payment deadline for exchange students is tba, exact date to be announced (Fall semester). For those who have applied for Saxion housing for fall semester 2026, will receive an email from International Office with more information.   

Rental contract and housing invoice 

The rental contract and housing invoice will be organized and sent to you by an external organization, and not by Saxion. Meaning, the rent will have to be transferred to the external partner and not to Saxion.  

If you have any questions about your rental contract or housing invoice after receiving this, please make sure to contact VPS. 

Alternative offer 

In case it is not possible to make use of our own offer we will try our utmost to arrange an alternative offer via one of our student housing partners. Please note for this alternative offer the prices, rental period, facilities, distance to Saxion and type of rooms might differ from the Saxion rooms.     

When to expect to receive information: tba 

If you did hand in a request for reserving Saxion housing as an exchange student, you will be contacted. In case of different room prices, you might receive a form via email in which you may indicate your room type preference.  
 
Room type preferences are not accepted by email, and only via the designated form that you receive from us.  

Reservation procedure  

1. Register for a room via the student registration portal (SIS) (this registration does not mean your room is confirmed, this is only a request).  

2. Room type preference filled in via designated form. 

3. Room type will be assigned after preferences form has been completed. More information will be shared via email communication.  

4. On the invoice the payment deadline will be mentioned. You room reservation will be confirmed after receipt of the payment
