Saxion-NT2 has the following five language modules: A1, A2, B1, B2 and B2+.

If there are sufficient applications, all modules start four times a year: in September, November, February and May.

At the end of the A1 language module, you will be able to say something about yourself, buy something in a shop, order something in a cafe, ask for directions, find accommodation and get to know others and have an introductory conversation. We use the ‘Nederlands in Gang’ course book in the group. You will finish the course by sitting an A1 exam.

At the end of the A2 language module, you will be able to say something about yourself using simple language, understand short messages and conversations, write simple letters and understand the main points in short texts. All skills will be covered: speaking, listening, writing and reading skills, grammar and vocabulary. We use the ‘Nederlands in Gang’ course book in the group. You will finish the course by sitting an A2 exam.

If you complete the A1 and A2 modules successfully, you will be a ‘basic user’ of Dutch.

After successful completion of the B1 language module, you will be able to communicate independently and handle most situations. Furthermore, you will be able to describe events as well as your opinions, experiences, expectations and ambitions. Furthermore, you will learn to understand the most important points being made in familiar concise standard texts on issues which occur regularly at work, at school and in situations in your free time. You will be able to produce simple texts on issues you are familiar with and on personal matters. All skills will be covered: speaking, listening, writing and reading skills, grammar and vocabulary. We use the ‘Nederlands in Actie’ course book in the group. You will finish the course programme by sitting a B1 exam and you can consider sitting a NT2 programme I state examination after.

After you complete the B2 language module, you will be able to communicate independently and be able to react in such a fluid and spontaneous manner that you can have a normal conversation with natives, without this being an effort by one of the parties. You will be able to understand the main idea of a complex text, regardless of it being on a concrete or abstract topic. Furthermore, you will learn to write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of topics and you will be able to express your point of view on a current issue, while discussing the pros and cons of various options. All skills will be covered: speaking, listening, writing and reading skills, grammar and vocabulary. We use the ‘Nederlands op Niveau’ course book in the group. The course will end with a B2 exam, and you can consider sitting a NT2 programme II state examination after.

If you complete the B1 and B2 modules successfully, you will be an ‘independent user’ of Dutch.

To learn about the subtleties of Dutch after completing the B2 level, you can take the B2+ course. After successfully completing the B2+ course, you will be close to C1 level. This means that you will be more proficient at the language, meaning that living, working and studying in the Netherlands will be much easier and more interesting. To improve your academic language, the texts and videos we use are from popular science. All skills will be covered: speaking, listening, writing and reading. Extra attention is paid to speaking, pronunciation and grammar We use the book 'Nederlands naar Perfectie’, which works towards level C1.
