Saxion to adjust organisational structure to remain fit-for-future
Higher education faces financial challenges in the coming years, and Saxion is no exception. Revenues are declining due to national budget cuts and a decrease in student enrolment caused by demographic changes. Although Saxion is financially sound and has built up reserves, additional measures are necessary to maintain this position. At the same time, we continue to invest in high-quality education and research, in the growth of part-time education, in strengthening our campuses and in expanding practice-oriented research.
This is why we are making adjustments to the internal structure of the organisation and reducing the number of schools and services. This step will help us remain effective and future-proof with less overheads and more coherence. These adjustments solely concern the internal structure of the organisation. They have no consequences for the range of courses being offered.
In the coming months, we will work with heads and directors, representative councils on a careful process to develop a design. This is a quick but careful process. At this moment in time it is not possible to say anything about potential consequences for staff. We appreciate that this may lead to concern among staff. All employees will of course be informed as soon as there is any more clarity about the situation.
This change will help us ensure that Saxion continues to be a strong university of applied sciences in and for the region in the future, with good education, applied research and a wide range of courses that train talent and provide companies and partners with innovative strength. It is important for an organisation to constantly adapt to changing social developments and take appropriate measures in good time. This enables us to continue to fulfil our societal role in the region now and in the future.
