Requirements

In order to be admitted to our programmes, you will have to meet the entry requirements below.

Entry to the short degree programme is open to Dutch and international students alike.

  • A minimum of three years of higher education (leading to a bachelor's degree) in Tourism or Hotel Management or a closely related field such as consumer affairs, catering management or other related management fields. A study path will be determined (how many and which semesters) based on previous education, knowledge and/or vocational experience.

Before being accepted onto the Tourism Management programme, you will need to pass an additional study choice check as part of the compulsory admission procedure. If the outcome is approved by the admission officer, you will be allowed to start.

A person in possession of a diploma not explicitly included in this regulation can be exempted from the entry requirement mentioned in this section at the discretion of the director, providing that the diploma is at least equivalent to one of the diplomas mentioned.

The director’s judgement will at all times be subject to advice by NUFFIC concerning the equivalence of diplomas.

Other entry requirements for this programme

For this programme it is recommended to have studied the subject Economics.

Are you a Dutch student applying for one of our English taught programmes? Please check the entry requirements for Dutch students. The information below applies to the academic year of 2024 – 2025. These entry requirements are subject to changes in government policy and Saxion regulations.

The student must be admissible to Higher Education through a diploma with good results at least equivalent to the Dutch HAVO, VWO or MBO-4 for our bachelor programmes and four years University of Applied Sciences for our master programmes. Does your diploma match with these requirements? Check here what the Nuffic has to say about the diploma you’ve obtained.

Select the relevant country and open the pdf file. At the ‘evaluation chart’ you’ll find an overview of the most common diplomas and their comparison in level to the Dutch educational system. This will give you a clue about your admission possibilities.

The other chapters of the pdf file contain more information about the curriculum of the specific education. Sometimes it depends on the curriculum of your previous studies if your diploma will meet the full described level, so this file from the Nuffic must only be used as a guideline; our student registration will determine the final admission.

Short degree programmes
If you want to apply for a short degree programme, the following entry requirements are also applicable:

  • Having completed at least three years at university/bachelor degree level and gained at least 180 EC or the equivalent.

  • The study gap between the last study programme and Short Degree Programme International Business cannot be longer than two years (measured on the first day of the academic year).

The students’ qualifications will be assessed by the Admission Officer of the specific course on the basis of the provided diplomas, curriculum vitae, letter of motivation, course description issued by the university and, if necessary, an intake interview.
