The transition course, for students with a Bachelor of Science in another field, amounts to a study load of approximately 100 hours and comprises a theoretical part and a practical part. You learn the theory at home, during an e-learning programme. The practical part comprises a 1-day programme in our chemical and mechanical laboratory and our textiles studio. This particular practical session is held in Week 0, which is the week before the master study programme gets underway and is mandatory for all students. Also for students who did’t follow this e-learning course.

The study programme will start in September. The maximum number of students is set at 24, so places are limited.

After accepting your application the intake procedure will begin, comprising an assignment and an interview. For foreign students we can arrange an interview via Skype or Facetime.

To be admitted to the study programme, students must perform successfully at the interview which will be part of the selection procedure.

We select students with a Bachelor degree based on the following criteria:

  • Interest and knowledge of the subject: demonstrate your interest in and knowledge of textile materials and show that you are keen to develop deeper into this topic.
  • Your capacity for self-reflection: reflect critically on your portfolio and be clear about what you want to focus on during the master in order to achieve your goals.
  • Capacity for creativity and innovation: after your application you will receive an innovation case from us. Use the case provided to demonstrate your talent for innovation and creativity.
  • Capacity for and interest in research: demonstrate your interest in and capacity for research. You may use the innovation case or any previously done research work to demonstrate this. Research capabilities are an important element, required to successfully complete project modules and master thesis towards the end of the master.
  • Communication and entrepreneurial skills: your interview with the admission committee includes an elevator pitch about your ideas stemming from the innovation case. You can demonstrate by specific examples whether you are a team player.

If you have a bachelor's degree in another field, supplemented by the transition course in textiles, you are also warmly welcome to apply. After all, with your knowledge of chemistry, chemical engineering, industrial product design, mechanical engineering, electrical & electronic engineering, mechatronics and suchlike, you are in a prime position to stimulate innovations in the textile industry and achieve crossovers with other sectors.
Students with another diploma than a fashion and/or technical textile bachelor qualify for conditional admission after going through the selection procedure. This means that, upon applying, they will be required to follow a programme to bring their basic knowledge of textiles to the relevant level. That programme entails a study load of approximately 100 hours.
We provide this e-learning programme. The programme consists of various modules that are completed with digital tests. Although these are diagnostic assessments, they are nevertheless compulsory. Students are obliged to put in the necessary effort; completion of these tests is a condition for admission to the master's programme.
