Saxion’s Preparatory Courses offer you intensive English language preparation in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The courses are organised in an interactive small group setting with attention on individual feedback and progress.

Course Content

The course is clearly organised into morning sessions that are mainly language based and afternoon sessions which are more skills based.

Morning sessions include:

  • Intensive general and academic language skills – including a lot of projects and group work to get you fully prepared for your future university course of choice
  • Comprehensive introduction to Dutch culture and academic survival skills with emphasis upon the importance of autonomous learning and group project work
  • Regular one on one tutorial opportunities and personalised study motivational planning
  • Periodic exam weeks for monitoring (pre-final exam) progress

Afternoon sessions cover:

  • In class IELTS exam training
  • Pre-bachelor tracks to help you prepare for your future major at Saxion (or beyond) through a selective choice of disciplines

Additional class time content involving:

  • Social activities and excursions which traditionally have encompassed either an ice skating or bowling activity and trips to Dutch beauty spots, museums, or businesses.  

The Course Objective

By the end of the course, you will benefit from either a graduation certificate to guarantee you a place on a Saxion degree programme and / or the opportunity to gain a suitable IELTS score which would also allow you to study at Saxion and /or another institute of your choice.

Assistance in booking and reaching an IELTS test centre can be provided if required. If you pass the external IELTS exam at an official test centre, half the IELTS exam fee will be reimbursed.
