Human Centered Design

Design We explore ways to responsibly design products and services, focussing on the user’s needs. Our starting point is a social problem. We use appropriate design methods to provide us with an overall view of our users and to provide the users with information about topics they find important. Together with the user, we create designs which contribute to their wellbeing.

Main themes

We conduct surveys on all stakeholders of innovative technologies. Not only do we have the knowledge to design for specific target groups, we can also design for everyone: inclusive design. We also look at who the user is and what is important to them. We translate this knowledge into optimal human-technology interactions.

A design process involves several users. This could be specific users, such as visually impaired people, children with asthma or informal carers. Sometimes the target audience is much broader, for example when designing a public service. We know and understand our users and how to design for a specific target audience.

Our designs are based on users' experiences, needs, values, behaviours and even taboos. By talking to users, you can quickly learn about their experience of a problem and what they need to solve it. Underlying factors are values such as autonomy or social relationships. We try to get to the root of these; why does someone find something really important?

We also conduct research into user behaviour. In fact, users sometimes behave differently than expected. Finally, we identify taboos; these too provide valuable information for the design process. In order to gain all this user insight, we develop and implement the appropriate design methodologies.

Intimacy and sexuality in elderly care

We have developed a people-centred methodology to support healthcare professionals in providing intimacy and sexuality support to elderly people and their families.

Collaboration

Who will be affected by this innovative technology? And what are their priorities? We have the knowledge to identify users. This enables us to effectively match technology to user needs and well-being. Don’t hesitate to contact us!

And do you need help tackling a problem from a design perspective? Then we would be happy to help! Contact us!

But are you having difficulty in finding the right form? We know how to bring ethics into the design process, how to put user values at the centre and how to incorporate sustainability into your designs. We would be delighted to share our knowledge with you.
