Data driven Investigations
From human perception to digital perception.
We work on several different lines of research in this focus area.
CrimeBots
In the CrimeBots line of research we investigate ways in which robots can be applied in the field of detection. We look at ground-based robots such as 'Capra Hircus' and 'Boston Dynamics SPOT', as well as drones.
Data science & Crime
The Data science & Crime research line focuses on combining different digital tools such as explainable AI and web-harvesting/OSINT to collect and process data. This can be applied to cold-cases, environmental crime and the guarding and security sector.
Cyber technology
Our most recent line of research focuses on expertise building and technology development in the cyber domain. On the one hand, we attempt to identify digital threats or other forms of crime quickly so that action can be taken. On the other hand, we are trying to develop technology that can quickly identify, locate and gather evidence against those behind the threats. In this line of research, we work closely with research groups at the University of Twente and Eindhoven University of Technology, using key research facilities such as the AI Lab and the CyberTech Lab, both located at CVD in Apeldoorn.
