Cyber Resilience LAB
In our Cyber Resilience LAB we investigate human behaviour in dealing with online risks. We focus on performing combined behavioural measurements. We do this at our LAB at the Centre for Security & Digitalisation and on location with professional partners and clients. This is how we contribute to knowledge development and build effective interventions and training courses.
We combine different behavioural measurements to investigate how people deal with online risks. We also design and evaluate the effect of interventions in strengthening online resilience.
Research methods, interventions and training
Measuring human behaviour is complicated, which is why we apply a variety of research methods. For example, we conduct experiential research in the form of questionnaires, as well as interviews and methods that measure the behaviour itself, such as eye movements and click behaviour. Stress reactions of people can also be measured in simulations, for example via heart rate variability and skin conductance. By combining the strengths of these methods in an appropriate mix, we can develop in-depth insight into human behaviour concerning cyber resilience and the background of this behaviour. This allows us to develop effective interventions and training courses with our clients and partners to help make organisations and citizens resilient online.
Cyber Resilience LAB on location
Besides the Cyber Resilience LAB at the Centre for Security and Digitalisation in Apeldoorn, we also have a mobile lab, which we can use to provide research and training on location. In our training courses, participants receive direct feedback on their behaviour in a realistic, safe environment. They learn to recognize online risks, how to circumvent them effectively and what they can do if things do go wrong. Our LAB deployment enables us to contribute to increasing the online resilience of residents and organisations in the Netherlands.
