In order to be admitted to our programmes, you will have to meet the entry requirements below.

To be admitted to the programme, your secondary-level qualification should be at least the equivalent of the Dutch HAVO certificate, including Economics in your degree or certificate. Saxion will assess the compatibility of your education with that Dutch certificate. It is recommended that you have studied subjects such as economics, languages and/or management at secondary-school level. We also require either an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 550. Unfortunately, without either of these test results, your application cannot be considered.

Are you a Dutch student applying for one of our English taught programmes? Please check the entry requirements for Dutch students. The information below applies to the academic year 2022 – 2023. These entry requirements are published subject to changes in government policy and Saxion regulations.

For all Saxion pathways the following general entry requirements are necessary:

  • The student must demonstrate that they have the ability, motivation and determination to successfully complete the course;
  • The student must be admissible to Higher Education through a diploma of secondary education/high school diploma with good results such as for Dutch students VWO, HAVO or MBO and for foreign students diplomas which are equivalent to e.g. the German Abitur (algemeine Hochschulreife), the French Baccalaureate or the American High School (top stream or plus 1 year's college);
  • Your degree should include Economics;
  • The student must have sufficient English language skills for the specific course.

The students’ qualifications will be assessed by the Admission Officer of the specific study programme. You need to submit diplomas and, depending on the study programme of your choice, you might need to submit a curriculum vitae, letter of motivation and/or complete an intake interview.

To enter our Bachelor and Master courses, an IELTS 6.0 (or comparable level or English proficiency) is necessary. In some cases, European students can be exempted from submitting an English proficiency test. Please check Nuffic's diploma list to see if you have to supply an official English language test.
