Forms of cooperation and quality assurance

Our research aims to provide businesses and organisations with down-to-earth ways to embed ethics into their thinking. We develop our products in daily practices, collaborating with users and organisations to ensure user-friendly, constructive solutions.

All forms of collaboration are possible

We appreciate working with companies, organisations, public institutions, and other researchers. We collaborate in subsidised and contract-based projects.

Are you looking for a research partner to help embed the ethical and social dimensions of your research project? Or would you like to participate in a research project on ethics and technology in practice? We have extensive experience in organising and conducting large-scale, partial and complete research projects. Our key task is to ensure that all relevant partners in a project actively consider the ethical issues we encounter. These may include users, social organisations, the companies concerned, and researchers.

Do you have an ethical question or face ethical challenges? We assist with strategic questions, and offer guidance on complex issues and the strengthening of critical reflection in your organisation. Our researchers have backgrounds in a variety of fields, including IT and technology, healthcare, and the public domain. This allows us to link you with an experienced sparring partner who is familiar with your field and can identify the relevant topics to address.

Are you looking for a relevant and up-to-date training or inspiration session for your team? Or a speaker for your organisation? Our contributions range from workshops on reflection on technology, to lectures on ethics in the daily work practice, and from training teams on social wellbeing to courses on norms and values in the workplace. We offer customised experiences that suit your organisation. With multiple researchers available, we can tailor-make an afternoon with several workshops, or supervised break-out sessions.

Do you have a different question? Or is your question not clear yet? We excell at figuring out your issues together and at initiating dialogue and discussions. Do you need a devil's advocate to speed up your own thought process? Do not hesitate to contact us.

Quality of our research

At Saxion, quality is a top priority. Together, we foster a strong quality culture, supported by widely accepted and practical instruments, and facilitated by dedicated quality assurance staff specifically for research. We focus on what is working well and explore how we can further build on that. In this way, quality assurance supports the design and implementation of applied research with real impact. We adhere to the national standards for applied research, as set out in the Sectoral Protocol for Research Quality Assurance. By organising quality assurance smartly, we ensure continuous auditability. We also endorse the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.

We pay attention to the following principles in our collaborations:

  • Inclusivity: we work on providing insight into the impact of technologies. This means we want to include all stakeholders in this. We do not limit ourselves to just the client or collaborative partners, but also look at the entire ecosystem in which the technology is used.
  • Involvement: in our projects, we work on the basis of involving all partners. This means that everyone, from user to developer and manager, is asked to share their ideas and participate.
  • Knowledge sharing: our projects generate a lot of new knowledge and new working methods. We use this generalised knowledge and working methods to help more projects and organisations develop and implement their technologies responsibly.
