Forms of cooperation and quality assurance
Our research is aimed at giving businesses and organisations practical ways to include ethics in their thinking. We develop our products in practice in collaboration with users and organisations to ensure user-friendly and constructive solutions.
All forms of collaboration are possible
We like working with companies, organisations, public institutions, and other researchers. We do this both in subsidised projects and on a contract basis.
Are you looking for a research partner to develop the ethical and social embedding of your research project? Or would you like to participate in a research project on ethics and technology in practice? We have extensive experience in organising and performing parts of or complete, large research projects. Our key task is getting all relevant partners in a project to actively think about the ethical issues that we encounter. These are, for example, users, social organisations, the companies concerned, as well as the day-to-day researchers.
Do you have a question or face a challenge where ethics play a role? We can help you with strategic questions, guidance on thorny issues, and/or strengthening critical reflection in your organisation. Our colleagues have backgrounds in a variety of fields, including IT and technology, healthcare, and the public domain. This allows us to link you to an experienced sparring partner, who is familiar with your work field, and therefore can easily uncover the relevant topics to be addressed.
Are you looking for a relevant and up-to-date training course or session for a team? Or a speaker for your organisation? Our contribution varies from providing workshops for reflection on technology, to lectures on ethics in daily work practice and training for teams on personal safety, and norms and values in the workplace. In consultation, we can look together at which form best suits your organisation, and where necessary work with several colleagues at the same time, for example to provide an afternoon with several workshops, or to supervise break-out sessions.
Do you have a different question? Or do you not really know your question yet? We are good at figuring out your issues together and initiating discussion. And do you need a devil's advocate to speed up your own thought process? Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Quality of our research
At Saxion, quality is a top priority. Together, we foster a strong quality culture, supported by widely accepted and practical instruments, and facilitated by dedicated quality assurance staff specifically for research. We focus on what is working well and explore how we can further build on that. In this way, quality assurance supports the design and implementation of applied research with real impact. We adhere to the national standards for applied research, as set out in the Sectoral Protocol for Research Quality Assurance. By organising quality assurance smartly, we ensure continuous auditability. We also endorse the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.
We pay attention to the following principles in our collaborations:
- Inclusivity: we work on providing insight into the impact of technologies. This means we want to include all stakeholders in this. We do not limit ourselves to just the client or collaborative partners, but also look at the entire ecosystem in which the technology is used.
- Involvement: in our projects, we work on the basis of involving all partners. This means that everyone, from user to developer and manager, is asked to share their ideas and participate.
- Knowledge sharing: our projects generate a lot of new knowledge and new working methods. We use this generalised knowledge and working methods to help more projects and organisations develop and implement their technologies responsibly.
